March 10, 2025 Sea Day #4

Sea Day #1 on the second cruise en route to Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico, Sea Day #4 overall. Clocks went back an hour overnight. Again we each have 90 minutes of complimentary Wi-Fi which we will use to post the blog entries.

The sky was mostly cloudy at 7 a.m. There was a slight rocking motion to the ship when sitting by the window watching the small one meter high waves. By 9 a.m. light rain could be seen in the distance.

Elite breakfast this cruise is in the Qsine on Deck 3, so we just need to walk down the hall toward the back of the ship. We sat with Zegrid. She said that she requested a table for at least four as she would like others to join her. The host, the same person as last week, directed us to her table. Her daughter, Claudia, and son-in-law Brett have joined her on this cruise, but are Classic loyalty level and cannot join her at Elite breakfast, even though they are sharing the same stateroom.

We went to the outdoor pool on deck 10 for the Dance Class Fit & Fun with Cruise Director,  Sarah. It had elements of a Zumba class. There was a slight delay due to a Bluetooth connection not working, but another tablet could connect. Just as the second last tune ended the rain came and quickly soaked the deck. Sarah, who had a bit of shelter, suggested that people had to be very careful on the slippery deck and should carefully consider whether they wanted to proceed with the final dance. (This was the first of five dancing opportunities today).

There must be over 100 children from 1 to 13 years old on the ship, as well as a fair amount of teenagers here for Spring Break.

We went to the crowded Oceanview Café for a quick lunch. We joined Zegrid, Claudia and Brett, who had snagged a table for five.

At 1 p.m. in the Reflections Lounge on Deck 11 we attended the Captain’s Club Welcome Party for all loyalty club members. Pesto Pora was playing and we tried dancing again, but the floor was just as sticky as last evening so we only managed two dances. Cocktails were served. Between us we drank a glass of Merlot, an Apple Martini and two Margaritas. Of the 2,184 passengers aboard 1,523 are Captain’s Club members. Of those, 13 are Zenith members having accumulated more than 2,999 points. The couple sitting next to us complimented us on our dancing and asked how long we had been dancing together.  The captain presented the couple travelling on this cruise who had the most points and were recognized with a bottle of champagne. They had  5,853 points. This was their 139th cruise. Also a man named Michael was also introduced. He had accumulated 5,837 points. We had spoken to him yesterday in the line for passports check at Immigration as we returned to the ship. He was raised in New York City but has lived in Florida for more 38 years.

The Celebrity app, today, cut out numerous times for both of us, probably because families are using the chat feature to connect with their children. You just have to go to Settings on your phone and reconnect which takes less than 30 seconds but is annoying. There was no Beyond the Podium speaker today.

This afternoon there was a thirty minute Line Dance class at the outdoor pool deck led by Charlotte, the Activities Manager. The pool deck had dried and the sun was breaking through the cloud. There was a good turnout of close to 40 people including eight men. This was dancing event number three. We rewarded ourselves with one scoop each of Praline ice cream  and Rum Raisin ice cream.

Today, the Reflections Lounge on Deck 11 was open for Elite Happy Hour at 5 p.m, no dancing and only four other passengers in the lounge. It was the Evening Chic dress code in the dining rooms this evening. We descended to Deck 4, where Pesto Pora was playing in the Rendezvous Lounge. It was only half full and we were the only ones dancing.

Then we went up to the San Marco dining room deck 5 for dinner at our table for two. We passed Zegrid, Claudia and Brett’s table. They complimented us on the dancing we attempted earlier at Captain’s Club Welcome Party. We enjoyed an unrushed dinner this evening which took a little over an hour. Last cruise, with others at our table arriving 20 minutes after us, some dinners lasted almost two hours. We were able to dance the final ten minutes of the acoustic duo, Lanisters set on our way to watch the last 20 minutes of the singers and dancers show, Soundtrack, that we had seen last week.

As it finished Pesto Pora had just started their set at the Rendezvous Lounge which was now full and there were a few people dancing. This was the sixth time today that we could dance. One of the songs near the end of their set was a long (maybe four minute) fast Mambo to which no one else was dancing. It was a workout but we still had energy to dance the final song which was cha-cha. Tomorrow’s afternoon excursion should get us back to the ship close to the 4:30 p.m. all onboard. We have another Mixology and Music event before dinner, so our dancing will only be in the evening.

When we returned to our stateroom there was another vase with a rose and flowers and a plate of five dainties.

Total steps today 12,005   Flights of stairs today 29

We climbed from Deck 3 up to Deck 11 several times today.
