March 15, 2025 Sea Day #5
Clocks were set forward one hour overnight. Sea Day #2 of the second cruise en route back to Tampa. On board today is “Poolest Day Ever”. There are lots of activities happening around the outdoor pool on Deck 10.
There were clouds again today ringing the horizon which took the sun until after 9 a.m. to clear the clouds. The sea swells were about one meter high. By the afternoon the larger clouds had disappeared and it was hot, close to 30°C on the open decks.
We enjoyed our breakfast with Zegrid in Qsine. We always looked forward to breakfasts with her. She leaves the ship tomorrow too.
The captain’s announcement returned to the sea day routine, hearing it at 9:52 a.m. giving weather information, a southeast wind at 13 km/h, temperature 27°C and distance just 296 nautical miles to Tampa. So far the voyage had covered 1,376 nautical miles.
We climbed to Deck 10 for the Aqua Fun exercise class. There were about a dozen people in the shallow pool and 15 on the pool deck following the Zumba like exercise class in the sun.
We needed to change for our 11 a.m. Wine Tasting, which presented the same wines as last week. We missed the Caribbean Dance Class by the pool, but we had participated in it last week. The sommelier, Rene, mentioned that for the better Argentine vineyards, where the altitudes are between 1,300 and 6,800 feet, they note their altitude on their labels. Since the water comes from the mountains, the higher elevations have a higher concentration of minerals in the water, than lower elevations. Riesling wine usually has an alcohol content of 9.5%. The lower a wine’s alcohol content is, the sweeter the wine.
Back on Deck 10 we stopped in the Oceanview Café just before it opened for lunch. It was shrimp day. There was an impressive shrimp bar and in the dessert section the was a selection of cubed fruit to use with the chocolate fountain. We got a coffee and sat with Chris and Shirley from Vancouver to catch up on their activities over the past two days. They were on a different bus for the Belize Lamanai ruins tour. They chose a different excursion in Cozumel that was mainly shopping and a tequila tasting. They had not realized that it would be focused on shopping.
There was an afternoon matinee featuring the illusionist, Ryan Joyce, called Hypnotic Comedy Show which we skipped to think about organizing to pack and wrote the Thank You notes with an extra gratuity for the wait staff and Jenny our stateroom attendant.
During the afternoon we played Five Crowns while we enjoyed our complimentary gelato from the Deck 5 Gelato bar. Then chose photos to post to yesterday’s blog and connected to Wi-Fi to download GPS maps from the past few days.
On the American news there was a severe storm and tornado warnings issued for the Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri and Tennessee. The system was traveling north east toward Pennsylvania and New York. There was massive destruction over Friday night. Some areas had storm damage rated to class five out of five damage.
We joined Bob and Carol again this evening at the table of six that was set for four, since we had told the servers we were changing our table to share with them. They are looking forward to getting home to their 13 grandchildren some of whom they babysit during the week. Our waiter, Dennis, was off sick again this evening. The assistant waiter Akiesha is going home to Guana for seven weeks and rejoins the ship in Venice in May.
Before and after dinner, we danced to Pesta Pora before returning to the stateroom to pack and leave our luggage in the hall to be transferred to storage and transported to the cruise terminal for pickup tomorrow.
Our scheduled time for debarkation is 9 a.m., but we need to have vacated our room by 7:30 a.m so it can be prepared for the next cruise’s guests.
Total steps 8,913
